He began his professional career in the 1940s, performing with the likes of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. In the 1950s, Baker moved to Los Angeles and formed his own quintet, which became known for its cool, laid-back sound and Baker's signature crooning vocals.Throughout his career, Baker recorded numerous albums and toured the world, sharing his music with audiences in Europe, Asia, and beyond. He was also known for his tumultuous personal life, which was marked by struggles with drug addiction and legal issues.
